MRCC joins IBM Academic Initiative
Posted: Sep 01, 2017

Patricia Gibson, Communications Director

IBM, a world leader in data analytics and innovation, offers these resources to help build top academic programs, as many students graduate without the skills most employers require, particularly in the big data technology field. Academic Initiative students will be better prepared for big data careers as business analysts, data scientists, cybersecurity professionals, software engineers and more. MRCC students will also have access to dozens of software programs in the classroom, including IBM Bluemix, IBM Cognos, IBM Security, and IBM Watson.
“We look forward to all the opportunities that our Information Technology Academy students will have access to through this partnership,” said Travis Hueston, instructor of the Information Technology Program at Marion Regional Career Center. “This partnership will introduce our students to real-world challenges and enterprise-level technology, which will provide them with valuable information technology skills required by today’s employers.”
MRCC’s Information Technology Program is open to students at all participating schools in the county. Students who are interested should contact their school counselor, or call the Marion Regional Career Center at 765-664-9091.
